We at India Ethnicity bring the real India to the world through handcrafted products that are cherished Globally. What's more rewarding than an Artisan crafting a unique artifact, and in return, receive a platform to craft their own way of life. Bidriware, popularly known as "Magic in Black and Silver" is delicate metal ware containing silver and gold inlaid on iron. It was originated in Bidar, Karnataka, in the 14th century, during the rule of the Bahamani Sultans. It is a very popular art form of over 800 years, a vintage art form of Persia promoted in Bidar with specific links to the foundation soils contained in the forts precincts. This soil gives the lustrous black color to handicraft because it has not been exposed to rain or sunlight for centuries. The design patterns are inlaid on pure silver wire or thin sheets. They are normally "damascened" (ornamented with wavy lines) in floral and geometric patterns. Due to its strikingly intricate inlay work involving pure silver, Bidriware has always been prized as a symbol of wealth. Unfortunately, Bidriware is a dying art form, in spite of the Government of India putting in place several new policies to boost the productivity and viability of this traditional handicraft technique. What left are the precious few jewels that would soon be the only remaining representations of the beauty that had once originated from this fascinating area of the world with deep historical links.Tag :
